INSPIRATION FOR THIS ARTWORK

There’s something infectious about the way bee-eaters swoop and swirl... all colour and chatter. I wanted to reflect their spirit with looseness and spontaneity, letting the nature of watercolour do some of the lifting. The layering... the motion... the flashes of transparency - all part of their story.

Watching them dart along riverbanks, always in sync yet never still, gave me the title: sometimes you just have to wing it.
