Incoming captures that electric moment just before arrival... a Pied Kingfisher bursts into the scene, wings flared, energy focused. By drawing a portion of the wing directly onto the black mountboard, the artwork deliberately breaks its own boundary, creating a sense of motion that extends beyond the page.

INSPIRATION FOR THIS ARTWORK

I wanted this piece to feel like the kingfisher was mid-flight... coming right into the frame and claiming space. These birds are full of precision and drama, and I loved the idea of breaking the traditional borders to mirror that.

The use of granulating pigment added texture, while the high contrast of monochrome brought focus to form and movement. It's bold... different... and intentionally disruptive - just like the moment it represents.
