INSPIRATION FOR THIS ARTWORK

There’s something magical about giraffes - their sheer height... the gentle chewing... the way they glide through the bush on long legs with impossibly long lashes. I often wonder what it must feel like to see them for the first time… it’s always awe-inspiring, even for those of us who’ve grown up with them.

In this piece, I wanted to hold onto that moment of stillness... that pause where they stand... alert and at ease... bathed in light and shadow.
